Waheed, a 23-year-old with a disability, serves as the National Youth Child Protection Programme Officer and Youth Advocate at UNICEF Zimbabwe, as well as a UNV Youth Volunteer. His work centers on disability inclusion (SDG 10) and fostering collaboration across health, education, social development, and child protection sectors, while actively advocating for youth participation.
In 2020, he was awarded the University College Fryslân Foundation Scholarship to pursue a degree in Global Responsibility and Leadership at the University of Groningen, where he majors in Political Science, Economics, and Global Health. Waheed's artistic expression plays a crucial role in his rehabilitation from cerebral palsy; he is a talented ngoma percussionist, filmmaker, and model. Through his work, he emphasizes Bantu knowledge, decoloniality, and the representation of disability within Zimbabwe's cultural landscape.
