Sana Solar

South Africa's renewable energy industry is emerging, with limited access to solar skills. To address this, Thobeka and her university friends created Sana Solar, offering information and workshops on solar energy. The Sana Solar Education and Training workshop, held in Umlazi township, Durban, in July 2024, targeted young people aged 17-23 with a background in Mathematics or Science. The workshop provided solar PV certification training, climate change education, and career insights in the green economy. Activities included lectures, discussions, and expert panels. Thirty participants were selected from 100 applicants, resulting in 8 pursuing careers in solar power and 3 enrolling in Environmental studies.
