Changemaker: Ilona Quahe
All children should have access to a good education that provides them with
opportunities, allows them to reach their potential and develops their confidence to
pursue their goals. University students can be excellent role models and mentors for
high school students and have the potential to connect with them in a way adults
cannot. Through the power of mentoring and tutoring combined, the educational
experience for high school students who attend lower performing schools can be
improved. Ignite worked with 60 mentors and over 100 students providing
weekly support for these students, both academically and personally by giving them the individual attention they need.
