Ecuador
Ecuador, with its unique biodiversity, is facing serious threats due to extractivism, climate change, and poor waste management, which lead to river pollution, soil degradation, and loss of native species, impacting both the environment and local communities. To address this situation, a group of young people passionate about protecting their region have come together to create Germen Fecundo, a project aimed at training the next generation of environmental leaders.
Targeting youth aged 13 to 25, this program will offer them the opportunity to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and develop sustainable and innovative solutions for ecosystem recovery. Germen Fecundo will combine technical knowledge, science and citizen engagement to tackle environmental challenges associated with climate change, natural resource exploitation, and waste management.
This project will be the result of collaboration between community leaders, who have a deep understanding of their surroundings, and experts in environmental education and biotechnology. In addition to providing tools and knowledge, Germen Fecundo will motivate young people to protect their natural environment and lead change in their communities.
