From Awareness to Action, Climate Action Youth

Changemaker: Aleksandra Khiriv

Country of implementation: Hungary

In Hungary, while climate awareness is high, actionable engagement and a robust network of young climate leaders are still lacking. To address this, Aleksandra, with the help of the Proteus Foundation, is organizing a series of training events designed to equip young activists with the tools they need to lead climate education and inspire action. The project aims to train 20 student facilitators in three interactive and impactful climate education tools: Climate Fresk, 2 Tonnes, and the EN-ROADS Climate Action Simulation.

The training will consist of three separate sessions, each focused on one of the tools, lasting 4 hours. These sessions will be hands-on and engaging, allowing participants to deeply understand climate change causes, consequences, and solutions on personal, collective, and global levels. The participants, mostly young people from established student unions like AIESEC and the Erasmus Student Network, will gain the confidence to facilitate workshops themselves within their own communities.

Following the training, a test event will allow participants to practice moderating sessions for each other. The test event will foster collaboration between new facilitators and experienced mentors from the growing Climate Fresk community in Hungary, ensuring a supportive, inclusive learning environment.

By empowering young activists with these proven tools, we aim to create a ripple effect of climate education and action across Hungary. The project will not only increase awareness but will also build a self-sustaining network of youth climate leaders equipped to drive long-term change.
