English in Action

In Altavista and neighboring communities, young people have few or no opportunities to learn English, limiting their prospects for personal and professional development. To change this reality, we, a group of committed young people from ¡Supérate! ADOC and Fundación Raíces, under the initiative of the organization AOS - Access to Opportunities for Self-Improvement, will organize a basic English course called "English in Action" to provide students with fundamental skills to help improve their future.

The "English in Action" course will take place from July 6 to December 22, 2024, at various educational centers in Altavista and its surroundings. The course participants will be students from seventh to ninth grade and young people from the community at large, interested in learning English to expand their academic and job opportunities. This project will offer them the chance to connect, discuss, and learn together, developing essential skills in reading, writing, and speaking English in a safe and welcoming environment.

The course will include a variety of interactive and dynamic activities: vocabulary games, creative projects, workshops and competitive games, as well as cultural days and quarterly educational excursions to practice English in real contexts. With the support of highly qualified volunteer teachers and the integration of technological resources, our goal will be to create a participatory and collaborative learning environment.
